Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for multiplexing an enhanced uplink are provided to define a new WTRU(Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit) multiplexing rule for a logical channel or MAC(Medium Access Control)-d flow mapped to an enhanced uplink media access control protocol data unit. CONSTITUTION: A WTRU(Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit) comprises a RLC(Radio Link Control) layer(102), an MAC(Medium Access Control)-d entity(104), an MAC-e entity(106), and a PHY(Physical Layer Protocol) entity(108). The RLC layer, the MAC-d entity, and the PHY entity perform a similar function to a WTRU in a wireless telecommunications system. The RLC layer includes one or more RLC entities. The MAC-e entity includes a multiplexing function(106a) and an optional EU(Enhanced Uplink) TFC(Transport Format Combination) function(106b). The PHY entity performs wireless transmission by processing a MAC-e PDU(Protocol Data Unit).
