Abstract  Abstract

Embodiments of a user equipment (UE), an enhanced node B (eNB), and a signaling method for short-range service and device-to-device (D2D) discovery in an LTE network have been generally described herein. In some embodiments, the UE receives configuration information for the cells D2D search resource pool. The configuration information includes an indication that the D2D search resource pool is logically partitioned into a plurality of sub-search resource pools. The UE performs an initial transmission of the search signal in the search cycle using a single D2D search resource from the first sub-search resource pool among the plurality of sub-search resource pools. The UE performs a number of additional transmissions of search signals in a search cycle using additional D2D search resources from sub-search resource pools other than the first one of the plurality of sub-search resource pools. Other apparatuses and methods are also described.
