Abstract  Abstract

Related methods and devices to determine, communicate and / or use delay information. A wireless terminal determines the delay information that corresponds to information queued to be transmitted. The delay information includes a maximum queue delay that indicates the maximum amount of time that the data to be transmitted has waited to be transmitted. The determined delay information is communicated to a base station in a control information communication. Alternative formats for communication of control information are possible including a communication of the type that carries only delay information and a communication of the type that conveys delay information and cumulative queue count information coded together. A base station uses delay information received from one or more wireless terminals to effectively program uplink traffic channel segments.
