Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for determining, communicating, and / or using delay information is described. A wireless terminal determines delay information corresponding to queued information intended for transmission. The delay information includes the minimum time to transmission deadline indicating the minimum amount of remaining time before information is discarded if not transmitted. The determined delay information is transmitted to the base station in the control information report. Alternative formats for the control information report may include a report type that conveys only delay information and a report type that conveys delay information and queue backlog information encoded together. The base station uses the delay information received from one or more wireless terminals to efficiently schedule uplink traffic channel segments. (Selection) Figure 7
