Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus are described for wireless terminal report option selection for a fixed bit size control information request report, eg, a 4 bit uplink traffic channel request report. The wireless terminal device maintains a plurality of different request groups corresponding to the uplink traffic to be transmitted. The same request report format includes multiple report options, with different report options corresponding to different request groups. Backlogs corresponding to request groups corresponding to different reporting options can exist at the same time, sometimes in fact. The wireless terminal device uses the priority information associated with the request group having a non-zero backlog to select a report option. In some embodiments, at least some of the request groups have priorities that vary according to transmission deadline information calculated and specified by the wireless terminal device.
