Abstract
claims a method and device for performing hard switching system between the communication systems (S1 S2) or for inter-frequency hard handover in a CDMA system. The purpose of the invention is to reduce the probability of dropped calls when the system hard handoff. in the effort of hard handover failure case mobile station (18) sends the communication system of the invention uses information back to the original system (S1) to assist the switching carried out. or not intended to be switched mobile station (18) monitors the destination system (S2) then carries information for use in a subsequent handoff attempts return to the original system (S1). The information returned from monitoring a CDMA system of comprises searching one or more pilots of the result (these pilots given at offsets in a specific list provided to the mobile station (18) by the base station (B1-B5) or a set of offsets based upon a predetermined search algorithm.
