Abstract  Abstract

A method of resolution of the reference time in a first entity that receives signals from distances from a plurality of satellites and that has an initial clock reference with an unknown clock deviation, said procedure comprising: in said first entity, measuring a set of time of arrival of distance signals from the plurality of satellites as a function of said initial clock reference, to provide an initial set of measured distance values; characterized by: determining each one, among a plurality of error statistics values, as a function of a plurality of temporal displacements, which include, for each of them: (a) altering said set of temporary measurements with a temporal displacement different, to provide a set of altered temporary measurements, thereby providing an altered set of distance values; and (b) determine an error statistic in response to said altered set of distance values; repeatedly execute steps (a) and (b) to provide a set of error statistics values; in response to said set of error statistics values, select a temporary offset that reduces the error statistics; and resolving said reference time based on said time offset and said initial clock reference.
