Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for determining a reference time associated with a satellite positioning system. Alternately, in one embodiment, this reference time is used to determine other navigation information. The navigation information may include, for example, the location / location of a satellite positioning system (SPS) receiver. In one embodiment, the relative speed between the SPS receiver and the set of one or more satellites is used to determine the offset between the time indicated by the SPS receiver and the reference time. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the reference time is determined using the error statistics. According to another embodiment of the present invention, a time is determined by comparing two records each representing at least a portion of a satellite message. In one embodiment, the SPS receiver is mobile and operates in conjunction with the base station to determine time and / or other navigation information in accordance with one or a combination of the aforementioned methods.
