Abstract  Abstract

Techniques for uplink power control in a wireless network are disclosed. Receiving a component carrier list at a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The component carriers grouped in the list have one or more common characteristics compared to the power required for uplink transmission on those component carriers. Thus, path loss estimation performed on the downlink of the component carrier in the component carrier list can be used to control uplink transmissions for other component carriers in the same list. In addition, the UE is an offset for one or more factors related to the power required for uplink transmission, component carriers that have certain characteristics for those factors, and components that have different characteristics for those same factors A path loss difference parameter that provides an offset from the carrier can be received.
