Abstract  Abstract

The embodiments of the present disclosure describe techniques and configurations for triggering the transmission of data payloads in a wireless communication network. An apparatus is coupled to one or more computer readable media having one or more computer-readable media having instructions thereon and one or more computer readable media for receiving a trigger request from a machine type communications (MTC) server to trigger transmission of a data payload over a wireless communication network, The payload is smaller than the preconfigured threshold and is transmitted to the module including the Mobility Management Entity (MME) or Serving General Packet Radio Service Support Node (SGSN) via the reference point in response to the trigger request, One or more processors configured to execute instructions to implement an interworking function (IWF) to send a trigger notification that triggers transmission of a load.
