Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and arrangement for triggering transmission of a data payload in a wireless communication network.

SOLUTION: A MTC-IWF device 54 implements an interworking function (IWF) and is configured to receive a trigger request 302 for triggering transmission of a data payload over a wireless communication network from a machine type communication (MTC) server 52. The data payload is smaller than a preset threshold value. In response to the trigger request the MTC-IWF device 54 is configured to transmit a trigger notification 308 for triggering the transmission of the data payload over the wireless communication network on a reference point to a module 58 containing a mobility management entity (MME) or a serving GPRS (general packet radio service) support node (SGSN).
