Abstract  Abstract

An apparatus and method for information signal communication using a radio spectrum communication technology. The PN sequence is configured to provide orthogonality between users to reduce interference. With orthogonal PN codes, cross-sectional correction is zero through a predetermined time interval, resulting in no interference between orthogonal codes as long as the code time frames are aligned with each other.

In an embodiment, the signal is communicated between cell locations 12, 14 and mobile units 16, 18 using a direct sequence propagation spectrum communication signal. In cell-to-mobile links, pilot, sync, page, and voice channels are formed. Information communicated on a cell-to-mobile link is generally encoded, interleaved, and a two-phase shift key (BPSK) along each quadrature shift key (QPSK) propagating covered symbols. Is modulated with orthogonal covering.

In mobile-to-celllink, access and voice channels are formed. Information communicated over a mobile-to-celllink channel typically encodes and interleaves an orthogonal signal indication along the QPSK propagation.
