CHANNEL SWITCH FOR BROADCAST AND MULTIMEDIA MULTICAST SERVICE SUPPORT. The present invention includes a radio access network and a method of sending multimedia multicast / broadcast (MBMS) services using channel switching. Channel switching occurs between common / shared and dedicated channels. The present invention also includes scheduling MBMS reception for use when a wireless transmitting and receiving device receives an MBMS service from various transmission sources. The sources transmit the MBMS service data in different orders. One embodiment utilizes bandwidth segmentation information and another embodiment utilizes out-of-band synchronization information.
