Abstract  Abstract

A wireless device (100), comprising: a receiver (101), adapted to receive a signal from at least one node of a wireless network, the signal including a machine-type communication, MTC, comprising a Group ID of MTC, the MTC Group ID corresponding to an MTC Functionality that provides at least one system optimization for wireless devices; and a processor (105), coupled to the receiver (101), and adapted to determine whether the MTC Group ID, contained in the received signal, corresponds to an MTC Functionality of which the wireless device (100) is a member; the processor (105) is further adapted to respond to the additional information contained in the signal related to the MTC Functionality of which the wireless device (100) is a member; characterized in that the MTC Group ID is included in said received signal as part of a Mobile Subscription Identification Number field of an International Mobile Subscriber Identity, IMSI.
