Abstract  Abstract

Embodiments of an evolved Node B (eNB) and method for coherent coordinated multi-site transmission with feedback per CSI-RS are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the eNB associates the first and second coordination points with the multi-node channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) (CSI-RS) in a predetermined resource element of the resource block. Can be configured to transmit to. The eNB may receive the CSI report as feedback from the user equipment (UE). The CSI report may include a precoding matrix indication (PMI) indicating relative phase information between the first and second coordination points based on multi-node CSI-RS. CSI reports for multi-node CSI-RS may be limited to rank 1 PMI. The eNB may configure at least the first and second coordination points for coherent combined transmission to the UE based at least on the relative phase information. Coherent combined transmission may also be jointly beamformed based on single node PMI.
