Abstract  Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for providing soft handover in a code division multiple access mobile communication system supporting a multimedia broadcast service. <P>SOLUTION: A method for transmitting broadcast data from adjacent base stations to a terminal, when one of a plurality of terminals moves to a handover region between the adjacent base stations in the code division multiple access mobile communication system, includes the steps of: transmitting a first difference between a transmission start point of a first system frame and a reception start point of a second system frame from a first base station to a radio network controller; a second difference between a transmission start point of the second system frame and a reception start point of the first system frame from a second base station to the radio network controller; calculating a difference between the transmission start points of the first and second system frames; and informing the first and second base stations about a transmission time point of the frames of the broadcast data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
