Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to the efficient recovery of high speed downlink packet access data (HSDPA data) after a handover. The invention discloses a method and system for a UE to perform a variety of actions to reduce latency and possibly prevent loss of PDU transmissions during the procedure of switching HS HSCH operating cell. A new criterion is introduced for LTE preparation of the RLC PDU status report. This UE produces the PDU status report as soon as possible after notification of HS-DSCH cell change as specified by the RRC procedure to more efficiently recover the source B nodes cached data. PDU status can be signaled for each AM RLC instance associated with the current HSDSC transport calan. Furthermore, after an intermediate B node shift of serving HS-DSCH cell, SRNC can wait for the PDU status report to initiate the transmission of new data in the target cell.
