Abstract  Abstract

In the transmission of a transmitted and/or received signal an input terminal (2) is provided for receiving the wide-band digital signal of a specific sampling frequency Fs. In a transmitter circuit (1) this signal is converted into a second digital signal which signal comprises successive frames each frame being made up of information packets IP each having a length of N bits wherein N > 1. The said signal is converted in a second transmitter circuit into a third digital signal in such a manner that it can be transmitted via the transmission medium (4). The first transmitter circuit (1) contains a frame generator either for generating the frames having a number of information packets in each frame P if P is an integer or if P is not an integer than for cyclic generating of a first and second number of frames whilst the first number of frames has the number of information packets equal to P P being the next lower integer following P and the second number of frames has the number of information packets equal to P+ 1 in such a way that the average frame rate of the second digital signal is substantially equal to Fs/ns where P = BR/N x ns/Fs wherein BR denotes a bitrate of the second digital signal and ns denotes a number of samples in the wide-band digital signal.
