Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for communicating between an access terminal (AT) and a device serving the AT through an access point (AP). According to one feature, the devices can be assigned to servers that are interpreted based on the source of the communication, for example, a MAC packet, in which the address is used. These addresses can be interpreted as being of a different type than other addresses that can be interpreted and / or used without taking into consideration the identity of the issuer. In certain embodiments, the Session Controllers and / or Internet connection points (IAPs) are identified by said addresses. The address value is the same for one or more ATs but is interpreted in an AP receiving the IAP address based on the information that corresponds to the AT that sent the package included in the IAP or Session Controller address.
