Abstract  Abstract

SYNCHRONIZED BROADCAST / MULTICAST COMMUNICATION. Synchronized broadcast transmits the same broadcast content using the same waveform from multiple transmitters. Each transmitter applies the same spreading code for broadcast transmissions. In a spread spectrum communication system having a time division multiplexed direct link, a synchronized broadcast transmission is inserted into a broadcast partition. One embodiment employs an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform for synchronized irradiation. An OFDM receiver is then used to process the received synchronized broadcast transmission. An alternative embodiment implements a pseudorandom noise code (PN) for use by multiple transmitters. An equalizer is then employed to estimate synchronized broadcasting.
