Abstract  Abstract

Synchronized broadcast transmits the same broadcast content using the same waveform from multiple transmitters. In a spread-spectrum communication system with time division multiplexed forward links, synchronized broadcast transmissions are inserted into broadcast slots. One embodiment uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) waveforms for synchronized broadcasts. An OFDM receiver is then used to process the received synchronized broadcast transmission. Another embodiment implements a broadcast pseudo-random noise (PN) code for use by multiple transmitters. The equalizer is then used to estimate the synchronized broadcast transmission.
