Abstract  Abstract

A method for channel coding and multiplexing, for a CDMA communication system in which, data frames having one or more temporary transmission intervals (TTIs), are received in parallel via a plurality of transport channels, and converted into multi-code physical channel data frames, the method comprising the steps of: receiving the data frames, determining the number of padding bits to be inserted in each of the data frames, inserting the padding bits in data frames, and segment data frames into radio frames, into a number of radio frame adapters (101 to 10N, 151 to 15N), the number of radio frame adapters being (101 to 10N, 151 at 15N) at least equal to the number of transport channels; multiplex (713) the radio frames, to form a serial data frame. segment the serial data frame by the number of physical channels; and deliver the segmented physical channel frames, to corresponding physical channels, where the segmented physical channel frames for physical channel 1 are delivered as e1, j = dj, the segmented physical channel frames for physical channel 2 are delivered as e2, j = d (j + P / M), and segmented physical channel frames for physical channel M are delivered as eM, j = d (j + (M-1) P / M), and where the bits of the serial data frame delivered from the multiplexing stage are d1, d2, ..., dp, the number of physical channels is M, the size of the serial data frame delivered from the multiplexing stage is P, and j = 1, 2, ..., P / M.
