Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain higher error correcting capability without having a parametrized bit-to-symbol mapping device.

SOLUTION: After an encoded data packet is retransmitted on an automatic retransmission request the data packet is combined with a data packet which has been received before in symbols units or in bit units. A symbol of the retransmitted data packet is modulated using a prescribed signal constellation and each symbol bit has an average bit reliability defined by individual bit reliabilities for all symbols of the prescribed signal constellation. At this time a bit sequence is corrected in this method by converting a bit arrangement and/or inverting logical bit values before modulation so that a combination average bit reliability of respective bits of all transmission may be averaged.
