Abstract  Abstract

A method for determining efficient transmission power for point-to-multipoint transmissions, a method characterized by: maintaining a database in a base station (BS) that specifies which of a plurality of transmission / reception units (WTRUs) are members of each group PtM; adjust a transmission power of each dedicated downlink (DL) channel of each WTRU to the minimum power required to maintain DL communications with each WTRU; set a PtM transmission power for each PtM group, where the Ptm transmission power of a PtM group is equal to the greater of a WTRU in the PtM group plus a PtM power imbalance (ôPtM power offset). A base station configured to determine efficient transmission power for point-to-multipoint (PtM) transmissions is also disclosed.
