Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling the power of PtM(Point to Multipoint) physical channels is provided to control the power of a PtM service. CONSTITUTION: A transmitter(54) transmits data to a plurality of receivers(56) over a particular channel. A plurality of the receivers(56) receive the particular channel. Each of the receivers(56) sends power control information to the transmitter(54) on the basis of the measured reception quality and the reception quality requirements of each receiver. The transmitter(54) uses power control information from each receiver, and adjusts a transmission power level of the particular channel. If any receiver requires an increase in the transmission power level to meet the receiver quality requirement, the transmission power level is increased. If all receivers exceed their quality requirement, the transmission power level is decreased. The particular channel is a high speed shared channel. Power control information sent by each receiver is transmission power control commands.
