Abstract  Abstract

A signal transmission apparatus (1) including: a modulator (4) for assigning an input signal to produce a modulated signal, reverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) means (40) for converting the modulated signal into a converted signal IFFT according to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, and a transmitter (5) for transmitting the converted IFFT signal, said input signal containing a first data stream including g values of bit configurations and a second data stream, where g is a integer, and having the signal modulated symbols, each of which represents one of m signal points in a vector space diagram, where m is an integer, further including said modulator means (61, 67) to divide said m signal points in g groups of signal points, assign the g values of the first data flow to the g groups of signal points respectively, assign data from the second data flow to points of signal of each of the groups of signal points, and select the signal points in the vector space diagram according to said input signal, so that: said m signal points can be distinguished from each other in the space diagram vector by means of a first set of thresholds that divides the vector space diagram into m regions, and the g groups of signal points can be distinguished from one another in the vector space diagram by means of a second set of thresholds that divides the vector space diagram is more sufficient than the first set of thresholds in g regions, the signal points in each of said groups of signal points are assigned in the vector space diagram at equal intervals along the axes I and Q of the vector space diagram, a distance in the vector space diagram between any two closest signal points of any two adjacent signal point groups is 2x n, where n is a offset value that is greater than 1, and 2 is the distance in the vector space diagram between the two closest signal points of any two adjacent signal point groups when the m signal points they are assigned in the vector space diagram at equal intervals along axes I and Q of the vector space diagram.
