Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission/reception system for transmitting much more information in the same frequency band by solving the problem of disability in increase of a transmission information quantity when the frequency band is limited for transmission equipment transmitting digital signals.

SOLUTION: In a transmitter 1 an m-valued QAM modulation signal is transmitted by allocating the n-valued data of a first data stream to a signal point group grouping signal points on a signal space diagram among n-valued first data stream p-valued second data stream and third data stream by a modulator 4 performing a m-value QAM modulation. In a first receiver 23 the n-valued first data stream is demodulated by a demodulator 25 in a second receiver 33 the first and second data streams are demodulated and in a third receiver 43 first second and third data streams are demodulated. Thus transmission equipment can be provided for enabling even the receiver having just the n-valued demodulation ability to demodulate the n-valued data of the first data stream when a deformed multivalued modulated wave of m-value is received wherein n<m.
