PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compatibility of NTSC broadcasting and HDTV broadcasting particularly in a transmitting apparatus for modulating a carrier wave to transmit a digital signal and a transmitting apparatus for remarkably decreasing areas where receiving is impossible within service areas of ground broadcasting.

SOLUTION: The transmitting apparatus is provided with a modulation part for modulating a first data stream to produce a first modulated signal and for modulating a second data stream to produce a second modulated signal. The first data stream has demodulation information for demodulating the second modulated signal.
