Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for resetting and reconfiguring a MAC entity, in which a contention resolution timer specifies the number of consecutive physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) subframes that are monitored by a WTRU on the PDCCH after an uplink message containing a MAC control element or an uplink message associated with WTRU contention resolution ID submitted from a higher layer is transmitted, the WTRU being capable of adjusting a number of timers.SOLUTION: There are disclosed a method and apparatus for reconfiguring a medium access control (MAC) entity in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The device and the method include: transmission of a MAC reconfiguration request by a WTRU; reception of a MAC reconfiguration command including new MAC parameter values by the WTRU; and reconfiguration of a MAC entity by the WTRU, on the basis of the new MAC parameter values taken from the MAC reconfiguration command.
