Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for monitoring interference of other channels in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The OSI MonitorSet is updated at the beginning of every superframe in the Reverse Link (RL) serving sector. A list of pilot PNs (PilotPNs) of a sector whose pilot strength (PilotStrenth) is above the interference monitor threshold (OSIMonitorThreshold) of another sector in the OSIMonitorSet is provided, where PilotPN and PilotStrenth are the overhead parameter list of the overhead message protocol. Fields in (OverheadParameterList), OSIMonitorThreshold is a configuration attribute of the overhead message protocol. PilotPN of reverse link serving sector (RLServingSector) is excluded. It is determined whether the OSI monitor set size (OSIMonitorSetSize), which is the size of the list, is greater than or equal to N OSIMonitorSet , where N OSIMonitorSet is a configuration attribute of the overhead message protocol. The strongest PilotStrenth of N OSIMonitorSet PilotPNs is maintained.
