Abstract  Abstract

The invention claims a transmission and receiving of data signals from a plurality of transmission antennas. Each antenna transmits a different pilot signal having a pseudo random chip code sequence. A receiver filters each using the chip code of the pilot signal of the transmitted pilot signal. the filtered pilots are weighted and combined. a part on the signal quality of the combined signal is properly adjusted weights for each pilot signal. A data signal is transmitted such that different spread frequency versions of the data signal are transmitted from each antenna. version of each version having a different chip code identifier. in reception each version is filtered with its associated chip code. the filtered according to a version of the pilot signal by the receiving antenna associated adjusted weight is weighted.
