Abstract  Abstract

The present invention uses a plurality of transmit antennas to transmit and receive data signals. Each antenna transmits a different pilot signal with a pseudo random chip code sequence. The receiver filters each pilot transmitted using the pilots chip code. The filtered pilot is weighted and synthesized. The weight of each pilot is some adaptively adjusted in terms of the quality of the synthesized signal. The data signal is transmitted so that different spread spectrum of the data signal is transmitted from each transmit antenna. Upon receipt, each form is filtered by its associated chip code. The filtered form is weighted according to the adjustment weight associated with the pilot signal of each antenna.
