Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the quality of a received signal without increasing a transmission power level in a code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. SOLUTION: A spread spectrum pilot signal and a data signal from a transmitter are transmitted. Each of these signals has a chip code associated with the signal. The receiver receives the transmitted pilot signal and data signal. The received pilot signal is filtered using the pilot signal chip code sequence, and the weight for the received pilot signal component is calculated using an adaptive algorithm. The received data signal is weighted with the calculated weight, filtered by the data signal chip code, and data is reproduced from the received signal.
