Abstract  Abstract

In a wireless terrestrial code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system wherein a synchronization code is communicated from a transmitting station to a subscriber station in a predetermined time frame format comprising a plurality of sequential time slots per time frame a method at the transmitting station comprising transmitting a first signal corresponding to the synchronization code in a synchronization channel in a first time slot of the predetermined time frame format from a first antenna; and transmitting a second signal corresponding to the synchronization code in the synchronization channel in a second time slot of the predetermined time frame format from a second antenna spaced apart from the first antenna the second time slot occurring after the first time slot relative to the predetermined time frame format.
