Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone service/subscriber position specifying service combination system at a low cost.

SOLUTION: A data packet is transmitted from three different antennas at three different time points. A mobile station subscriber device receives the same data packet at three different time points from three different antennas and uses the best data packet or a combination of the data packets to reduce the influence of fading. A transfer station uses a TDMA signal forming a link between the mobile station subscriber and the transfer station to modulate code division multiple access sequence. The time division multiplex and code division multiplex signals transmitted from space diversity antennas enable subscriber position measurement using the same signals for main telephone data communication. The subscriber station receiver uses the absolute arrival time and relative arrival time of the three repeated data packets to determine the respective distances from the mobile subscriber station to the three transmitting antennas. Since the transmitting antennas are at known fixed positions receiver position is determined.
