Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone service/subscriber location determination service combination system inexpensively.

SOLUTION: A data packets which carries digital telephone traffic is transmitted at three different times from three different antennas a mobile subscriber receiver thus receives the same data packet at three different times from three different antennas and uses the best data packet or the combination of the data packets to reduce effects of fading. Three transfer stations each having one spatially diverse antenna are used and the subscriber station receiver uses the absolute and relative time of the arrival of the three repeated data packets to determine the respective distances to the three transmitting antennas.
