Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system combined with a telephone service/subscriber position determining service at a low cost.

SOLUTION: A mobile station subscriber device receiver is designed to receive the same data packets at three time points different from each other from three antennas that are different each other and to reduce influence caused by fading using a best data packet or combination of these data packets. In the first embodiment each transmission station is provided with three space diversity antennas. In the second embodiment three transfer stations each having a spatially separated antenna are to be utilized. Each data packet to be received as a TDMA signal by the transfer station is to be transmitted at three times which are different each other via a CDMA link to a mobile station subscriber. A subscriber station receiver is designed to calculate each distance to a mobile subscriber station or the three transmission antennas using an absolute arrival time and the relative arrival times of three repetition data packets. Since these transmission antennas are each disposed at a known fixed position the position of the receiver can be calculated.
