Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for handling timers by which an RLC AM entity is prevented from experiencing deadlock or deterioration in quality of service QoS in a wireless communications system.

SOLUTION: The method for handling timers of the present invention includes: starting a Timer-Poll-Periodic timer for an RLC AM entity; performing a reset procedure for the RLC AM entity; and restarting the Timer-Poll-Periodic timer in response to the Timer-Poll-Periodic timer expiring prior to completion of the reset procedure. Further the claimed invention also comprises the step of maintaining a timer value and maintaining timer operation without stopping the Timer-Poll-Periodic timer in response to the reset process.
