Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for handling timers which protects an RLC AM entity from deadlock and prevents reduction in service quality QoS in a wireless communication system.

SOLUTION: A method for handling timers includes a process of starting a Timer_Poll_Periodic timer for a Radio Link Control Acknowledged Mode (RLC AM) entity a process of performing a reset procedure for the RLC AM entity and a process of restarting the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer in response to the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer expiring prior to completion of the reset procedure. The invention also includes a process of holding a value of the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer and retaining the timer operation without stopping the timer in response to the reset procedure.
