Abstract  Abstract

A method of handling timers in a wireless communication system includes starting a Timer_Poll_Periodic timer for a Radio Link Control Acknowledgment Mode (RLC AM) entity, performing a reset procedure on the RLC AM entity, and completing the reset procedure. Restarting the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer in response to the termination of the previous Timer_Poll_Periodic timer. The present invention also specifies that the RLC AM entity properly handles eight different timers after an RLC reset or reset to prevent it from experiencing a deadlock or degradation of quality of service.
