Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for handling timers which prevents deterioration in the service quality QoS by avoiding RLC AM entity from a deadlock in a wireless communication system.

SOLUTION: The method for handling timers comprises a step of starting the timer of Timer_Poll_Periodic for the RLC AM entity; a step of performing a reset procedure for the RLC AM entity; and a step of restarting the timer of Timer_Poll_Periodic in response to the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer expiring prior to completion of the reset procedure. Furthermore the method comprises a step of maintaining the values of the timers and the operation of the timers without stopping the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer in response to the step of performing a reset procedure.
