Abstract  Abstract

A wideband speech encoder according to one embodiment includes a low-band encoder and a high-band encoder. The low band encoder is configured to encode the low band portion of the wideband speech signal as a set of filter parameters and encoded excitation signals. The high band encoder is configured to calculate a value for a coding parameter that identifies a spectral envelope and a temporary envelope of the high band portion of the wideband speech signal. The temporal envelope is based on a high band excitation signal derived from the encoded excitation signal. In one such example, the temporal envelope is based on the level difference between the high band portion and the synthesized high band signal. Here, the synthesized high band signal is generated according to the high band excitation signal and the set of high band filter parameters. (Selection) Figure 10
