Abstract  Abstract

FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: in one embodiment a high band-pass flash suppressor includes a first flash detector configured to detect flashes in a low band-pass of a speech signal and a second flash detector configured to detect flashes in the corresponding high band-pass part of the speech signal. The low- and high band-pass parts of the speech signals can be different frequency ranges of a broadband speech signal. The high band-pass flash suppressor also includes an attenuation control signal generator for generating an attenuation control signal in accordance with the difference between terminal leads of the first and second flash detectors. The gain control element is made with possibility of applying the attenuation control signal to the high band-pass part of the speech signal. On one example the attenuation control signal indicates attenuation when a flash is detected in the high band-pass part of the speech signal but absent in the corresponding region during a low band-pass speech signal. ^ EFFECT: more efficient coding of the time envelope curve due to suppression of flashes in the high band-pass part of the speech signal. ^ 28 cl 25 dwg
